Zencity, an Israeli data-analytics company, announced on February 2 that it had raised $40 million for a new AI assistant that will be made available to state and local governments.

According to the announcement Zencity’s AI Assistant will help governments reduce time spent gathering community input. It will assist leaders in creating new engagement projects, survey question, suggest images, and create landing pages. The investment led by StepStone Group brings Zencity’s total venture capital raised to $91million.

The tool will enable users to create charts, reports and other documents that will allow government leaders the opportunity to incorporate community input into their decision-making process. The announcement said that the assistant will also be designed as an analyst who can answer questions in plain language about data, referencing sources such as surveys and social media.

Zencity said that the funds raised will also be used for hiring professionals in engineering and data sciences and to enhance customer services for Zencity’s customers from local governments on four continents.

Zencity, a company that counts 8 of the 10 largest U.S. city governments as customers, works closely with state and local agencies including law enforcement to gather public opinion on issues such as government performance, events, disasters, and other public safety incidents. Recently, the city governments in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles Police Department have become customers.

Zencity’s CEO, Eyal Feder Levy, stated that AI-powered capabilities like the ones we are launching today will put best-in class technology in the hands local government leaders. By lowering barriers for seeking community input and making data more easily understandable, we will drive results for the communities our government partners serve.

Zencity customers are currently beta testing the new AI assistant. The company has said that it will be widely available this summer.
