Parisian fund manager Wind has raised €90 million for its impact venture fund, according to a statement.
Wind – until recently known as Wind Capital – was founded by entrepreneurs Thierry Vandewalle and Xavier Gury in 2015. Wind Capital I, a €23 million evergreen fund, came to market the same year.
Wind Capital Fund II is targeting deeptech start-ups at seed or series A stage. It will invest in areas such as food, air quality, mobility, energy and security. It is being marketed under Article 9 of the SFDR, and has a fundraising target of €130 million.
Entrepreneurs are the firm’s primary LP base, according to Gury. He said: “Having founded several companies, we recognise the importance of being surrounded by experienced founders who understand the challenges of building a successful business.”
The fund will invest in 30 start-ups in total, having already completed three deals. A final close is expected next year.
