Coimbatore: The district consumer disputes redressal commission on Saturday directed a transport company to pay the value of a consignment, which it failed to deliver.
An official source said A N Rathnagiriswaran, of GM Nagar at Ukkadam had made a booking to transport a consignment of truck tyres worth 55,000 on March 5, 2022, with the branch manager of Mettur Transports at Sidhapudur.He had also paid the freight charges of 800 for transporting it from Coimbatore to Hosur.
However, the consignemnt was not delivered and the company neither responded nor paid the amount claimed by him.
The commission has directed Mettur Transports to pay the complainant 55,800, along with 9% interest from the date of the complaint, and an additional 10,000 as compensation and another 5,000 towards the cost of proceedings.
