Gallon of Trucking’s Main Fuel Is Now 4.6¢ More Expensive on Average Than This Time a Year Ago

The national average diesel price jumped for the third straight week, this time leaping 4.4 cents to $3.813 per gallon, according to Energy Information Administration data released July 1.

Highlights

  • Diesel’s average price has climbed 15.5 cents a gallon since the week leading up to June 17. Before that, the price had dropped each week from April 15 through June 10.
  • A gallon of diesel now costs 4.6 cents more on average than it did at this time in 2023.
  • The average price of diesel rose in all 10 regions of EIA’s weekly survey, the highest being a 6.7-cent increase in the Midwest and the lowest being a bump of two-tenths of a cent in California.
