ONroute Maple travel plaza to permanently close April 21

The ONroute Maple Travel Plaza on Highway 400 South in Ontario will permanently close as of April 21, the company has announced.

In a notice addressed to professional drivers, ONroute said the closure is due to “factors beyond our control.” This location featured amenities including free wifi, an ATM, 31 commercial vehicle parking spots, a pet area, and seasonal picnic tables.

In an email statement to TruckNews.com, ONroute’s spokesperson said that the company was advised that work needs to commence on the site that will necessitate closure of the plaza by April 30, 2025.

“Accordingly, ONroute must cease its business operations and vacate the Maple premises before then. At this stage, we do not know the future use for the land,” the statement reads. “We are collaborating with the Ministry of Transportationto ensure the closure is managed in a professional and least disruptive manner, ensuring the highest level of service and support to employees, partners, and guests.

“Together with the MTO, we look forward to planning for a replacement site in the near future.”
