The London-based company Sava has raised $8M for Seed funding.

Balderton Capital & Exor Ventures led the round.

The company plans to use the money to expand its team, develop its product line and demonstrate its clinical performance.

Sava, founded by Renato Cicci and Rafael Michali is a consumer- and medical-device company that develops a wearable platform for biosensors that can detect molecules under the skin. Sava’s microsensor technology monitors biomarkers within the body in real-time, starting with glucose, but not only.

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has recently approved Sava to conduct clinical trials with patients with diabetes. This will help Sava validate the breakthrough technology at a larger scale. SAVA’s microsensor offers users real-time, pain-free insights. A clinical study is scheduled to begin with investigators from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
