Zanutix Consulting invests in AI and cybersecurity for growth

Zanutix Consulting offers a variety of services, including cyber security.

ZANUTIX Limited, a tech company operating in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago is investing in artificial intelligence, machine-learning, and advanced cybersecurity measures. This investment is aimed at positioning ZANUTIX as a strong player in the regional tech industry.

The company began as a small business focused on software development, testing, and IT consultancy. It has now evolved into a business with a range of services, including IT project management and audit, risk and compliance, data management and management, business continuity and cybersecurity, and network design and implementation.

Zanutix has only been around for five years, but the founder of the company already has plans to expand its service offerings to compete with regional competitors. He wants to first secure a bigger share of the tech industry in Jamaica and Trinidad before expanding Zanutix into oil-rich Guyana.

The founder of the company told the Jamaica Observer that the company has a good foothold in Kingston and Port of Spain. Our existing relationships and our understanding of these markets are a solid foundation for future growth and expansion.

“Companies are looking for advanced technologies in Jamaica and Trinidad, and both markets offer regulatory environments that encourage technological innovation and investment in IT infrastructure. This gives us the opportunity to introduce our cutting-edge solutions, especially in sectors such as health care and finance, where compliance and data protection are crucial,” he added.

Data protection laws in Jamaica came into effect in June. As a result, many private and public organisations have taken steps to comply with the Data Protection Act in recent months. This includes upgrading internal systems and the employment of data controllers within high-risk sectors, such as finance, healthcare, education, tourism and information communication technologies services.

In Trinidad and Tobago, work continues to be done on the Data Protection Act and Electronic Transaction Act in order to make them fully operational by this year.

The Data Protection Act was passed to protect personal data processed by individuals and organisations. It stipulates that personal information must only be collected with consent and for lawful, specific purposes.

Thompson said that his staff is well-versed in the complex regulatory landscapes and can assist clients to maintain compliance with standards such as the General Data Protection Regulation, Jamaica Data Protection Act, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

Zanutix Consulting Limited currently has 127 professionals on its team.

“Each member of the team brings a wealth knowledge and experience, allowing us deliver comprehensive and tailored IT solutions to our customers.” Their dedication and commitment is the driving force behind our success. I am incredibly happy with what we have accomplished together.

In terms of AI, the company wants to offer services like predictive analysis, automated customer service (chatbots), personalized marketing and customer insight, fraud detection and prevention solutions, intelligent process automation and smart inventory management.

Zanutix’s growth plan will also target other key areas, including cybersecurity, cloud solutions and business process automation.

Cyber events, such as ransomware and data breaches, have replaced business interruptions and natural disasters as the number one concern for businesses around the world.

Jamaica has seen a rise in cyber attacks. According to the latest reports, the country experienced 43 million attempted cyber-attacks in 2023. In 2023, the Latin American region and Caribbean suffered 200 billion attempted cyber attacks, which is 14.5 percent of the total global reported last year.

Businesses are prioritising security of digital assets due to the sophistication and frequency of cyber threats. Our cybersecurity services are in demand as organisations look to protect their data, ensure regulatory compliance, and build resilient security systems. Beyond cybersecurity, IT security services in general are also in high demand. This includes risk management services, IT governance and compliance services, according to him.

Thompson said that Zanutix’s success over the last five years is largely due to its proactive and comprehensive approach to IT security. This approach is tailored to the individual needs of every client. The IT specialist said that he would seek to strengthen partnerships between Zanutix and key industry players to expand Zanutix into new markets, sectors, and regions.

Barbados and Montserrat are two other markets that Zanutix is interested in developing relations with over the short-to-medium term.

“We have established a strong presence throughout the Caribbean, from Trinidad’s oil and gas companies to Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana’s banks, corporate entities and medical outfits. “My vision for Zanutix, is to continue this path and expand our presence both regionally as well as globally,” he said.
