Lloyd’s Register and COFCO International have created a plan for decarbonising the company’s freight operations.
The first phase of the partnership involves a comprehensive evaluation of COFCO International’s chartered fleet of mid- and long-period vessels, which is approximately 50 vessels.
COFCO International operates in Geneva, Singapore Beijing and Istanbul. It manages over 200 ships every day.
As part of this project, LR will evaluate the fleet characteristics, operational profiles, and environmental impact on COFCO International’s vessels, as well the efficacy existing emission reduction technologies already installed in the fleet.

The goal is to find practical ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the company and contribute to a sustainable future for global cargo transportation.
The evaluation and analyses phase will mark a long-term collaboration aimed at improving attitudes towards sustainability in the marine industry.
