The XLoad traction system allows for the transportation of heavy freight trains in mountainous regions using just one locomotive unit.

The maximum speed of these machines reaches 160 km/h. All locomotives will be fitted with the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 3.

Siemens Mobility will provide maintenance services for the locomotives over the next 15 years.

In 2022, Siemens had already signed a contract with SBB Cargo for the lease of 35 Vectron locomotives through the Swiss company Reichmuth & Co Investment Management.

Locomotives of this model have also been supplied to European leasing companies Akiem, Railpoll, and Cargounit.
