Lufthansa Cargo and Best Services International Freight have agreed to reduce CO2 emissions from air freight for the Chinese logistics company.

“BSI will invest a total amount of 137,000 litres in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), at Lufthansa, to offset the CO2 emission caused by its flights. The two companies came to an agreement on the 26th of June during this year’s transport logistics China logistics trade show in Shanghai,” states an official release by Lufthansa.

J. Florian Pfaff (Head, Region Asia Pacific at Lufthansa Cargo) says: “Best Services International Freight was our first customer to use more than 100 tons of SAF in China. This helps reduce our CO2 emission and promote SAF usage worldwide. Each customer who takes this opportunity makes a significant contribution towards the decarbonisation in logistics. The interest in this shows that there is a great potential, especially in Asia.”

Wilson Wong, CEO of Best Services International Freight, adds, “The cooperation with Lufthansa Cargo reinforces our partnership.” We are China’s leading air freight logistics company, and a leader in the industry when it comes to digitisation. We combine progress with responsibility. “With limited SAF production worldwide, agreements such as this are of paramount significance.”

The Lufthansa Group is aiming to achieve a CO2 neutral balance by 2050, and to reduce net CO2 emissions to half by 2030 in comparison to 2019. This will be achieved through reduction and compensation actions.
