New $6 million fund will try to turn Upstate Medical University’s ideas into new businesses

Leaders in Syracuse’s biotechnology space, along with local and state representatives, celebrated a first-of-its-kind venture capital fund for medical and life science innovations at the CNY Biotech Accelerator on Monday.

A crowd including Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh, SUNY Chancellor John B. King, Jr., Empire State Development President Hope Knight and others attended the announcement of Upstate Biotech Ventures, which will invest in startup companies that are affiliated with SUNY Upstate.
