The German time-critical logistics company time:matters is opening a courier terminal in Shanghai Pudong International Airport this month to handle courier and express airfreight.
The courier terminal will be built in collaboration with terminal operator Shanghai Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co. Ltd. (PACTL). It is expected to reduce the freight handling time by up to two thirds and allow time:matters a customised service.
The terminal is designed to optimize both the monitoring and handling speed of time-critical and sensitive products.
The terminal allows staff to physically monitor shipments until loading or departure by using direct apron entry.
A hub monitoring system allows for real-time monitoring, and alerts the customer in advance of any irregularities.
A dedicated dock for receiving shipments and an X-ray machine, as well as a counter dedicated to receiving export and imported documents, further improve service quality.
Time:matters relies upon fast truck access, a dedicated delivery and pickup ramp, and its truck delivery to the receiver in order to increase flexibility and speed and ensure optimal delivery.
This option can save additional hours at the drop-off or pick-up zones, depending on how the waiting areas are used. The handling time will be reduced to 120 minutes for exports, and 150 minutes for imports. The terminal is open 365 days a yr, 24/7.
Speed and security are key when it comes to the transport of high-value, sensitive and time-critical goods. Constance Wu, managing Director of time:matters International Freight Forwarding Ltd., said that the new terminal in Shanghai will allow us to improve both imports and exports.
Business areas for Time: include automotive, industrial machinery, aerospace, high-tech, semicon, medical technology, and cell and gene therapies.
