Nataraj Sindam, senior product manager at Tech, talks to a variety of investors and entrepreneurs as the host and creator of the “Startup Project” podcast. This broad perspective gives him a unique view on the future of AI and investing.

He is also the author of Above Average and Insistive VC.

One of his key takeaways was that the future of artificial intelligence is not about consumer services, but rather the application of large language models to business data and applications. This includes services tailored to specific workflows and industries.

This week, Sindam will be joining us on the GeekWire podcast to discuss current trends in technology. He will also talk about AI, venture capital and startups.

Other topics include:

  • The challenges and opportunities for startups to compete against large tech companies when developing foundational AI technology, and where investors are focusing their attention on AI startups.
  • How AI will lead to a massive increase of data centers over the next 5-10 year period in order to meet the increased demand for computing and storage. This will require new “intelligence layer” in cloud infrastructure.
  • The differences between a traditional startup (focusing on getting a minimum viable products) and long-term AI moonshots as exemplified in , former OpenAI leader Ilya Suksever’s new venture.
  • Apple’s attempts to integrate AI in its applications and operating system and the tradeoffs that exist between the Apple ecosystem versus the more expansive Windows/Android approach.
  • In the final segment of “My AI”, I discuss a quick way to get a summary for YouTube videos by using the Copilot sidebar of the Microsoft Edge browser.
