Sri Lanka and Singapore Discuss Digital Partnership and Collaboration

High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake and Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information, H.E. Josephine Teo, met to discuss digital collaboration, focusing on AI and cybersecurity.

On 1st July 2024, High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake met with H.E. Josephine Teo, Minister for Communications and Information of Singapore, to discuss shared interests in digital innovation, including advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). The meeting, held in Singapore, also covered potential collaborative opportunities in digital public infrastructure and cybersecurity.

High Commissioner Dissanayake provided an overview of a recent Fintech delegation visit to Sri Lanka aimed at exploring partnerships in digital public infrastructure. He also mentioned an upcoming visit by the Press Club of Singapore to Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the support extended by AI Singapore and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in communication and technology between the two nations.

During the discussions, the High Commissioner highlighted Singapore’s regional cybersecurity initiatives through the ASEAN-Singapore Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (ASCCE) and requested technical assistance for Sri Lanka from the ASCCE. Minister Teo acknowledged the request and suggested exploring potential collaboration with the Singapore Cyber Agency (CSA) and the Infocom Media Development Authority (IMDA) to support Sri Lanka’s cybersecurity and digital transformation efforts, including capacity-building initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Yiling Cheong from the International Affairs Division of the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and Mr. Ahamed Razee, Minister and Head of Chancery of the Sri Lankan High Commission.
