Dell has a better focus on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data to improve business development.

The ‘Innovate with Data Summit’, organised by Dell in Lagos, focused on this.

The summit, which had the theme “AI Anywhere Data Everywhere,” highlighted the importance of data for digital transformation in the era of AI. “Innovation means thinking about the future, and filling in gaps, and these gaps need to be filled by data.”

Abdelmoultssin Sarsri said that Dell Technologies’ strategy allows companies to accelerate digital transformation by transforming ideas into innovation.

He said: “Innovation has never been more important in today’s rapidly changing landscape. Any idea, no matter how small, can improve productivity, efficiency and growth.”

According to him, an innovation study conducted in 2023, called the “Innovation Index,” which was to see how organisations innovated after the ascendancy created by the pandemic revealed that innovators and adopters innovated in three areas: people and process, and technology.

He said: “At Dell Technologies we believe that innovation is an engine that transforms your organisation and moves it forward. It starts with your people, their ideas, and is filled with data. You will be able accelerate your ideas into innovation with Dell Technologies as the innovation catalyst.

Hani Khalaf (CTO, Data and AI Solutions at Dell Technologies CEEMETA Region), said: “In AI you need three things in order to succeed – fuel, engine and drivers. The fuel is data, the computer is the engine and the drivers are algorithms and expertise.

According to Khalaf AI has been around a long time. “In November 2022 something destructive occurred, called “The iPhone Moment” in AI, which led to the emergence and discussion of generative AI. Generative AI can be disruptive because it creates new content such as new videos, new audio, and new text.

He also explained how if Generative AI was done in the wrong way, there could be a loss of intellectual property, credibility and integrity.

According to Khalaf the potential of generative AI helps reveal the potential for customers to extract value from existing data. This includes accelerating business operations and automating sales and marketing. It also includes advancing healthcare science, drug discovery, and research.
