Isuzu to continue working with The Shyft Group

Isuzu has confirmed its relationship with The Shyft Group will continue and evolve as it moves production to a new plant in Greenville County, S.C.

The two companies have partnered on vehicle assembly for more than a decade and that relationship will continue, Isuzu said in a news release.

While the truck maker will transition to in-house assembly, it said it will grow its relationship with Shyft in other areas. As it moves production to the new facility in South Carolina — a multi-year ramp up — Shyft will continue to assemble Isuzu’s N-Series Gas, N-Series EV and F-Series diesel trucks as its Charlotte, Mich., campus.

“Shyft has been a trusted and highly capable collaborator for over a decade, and we are pleased to continue and expand our relationship as we grow our North American operations,” said Noboru Murakami, president of Isuzu “Their experience and know-how will be invaluable as we ramp up our new facility, and we look forward to working together in new and exciting ways.”

Plans are also underway to establish Shyft as a vehicle solutions provider to support Isuzu’s North American operations. They’re discussing having Shyft develop a dedicated upfit and modification center near the Greenville plant.

“We remain committed to a strong and productive relationship with Isuzu,” said Jacob Farmer, president of fleet vehicles and specialty vehicles, The Shyft Group. “Our shared focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction will continue to drive mutual success.”
